We are often asked what happens if a solar farm is no longer needed, or the land or planning agreements expire.
Decommissioning is pre-funded and takes the form of removal of all equipment from the land. In the main this is relatively straightforward as all equipment can be dismantled and removed from site causing minimal damage.
Geotextile membranes are laid beneath the roadway materials to ensure that these can be removed too.
Concrete bases beneath the high voltage electrical equipment are the only items which need to be broken up to be removed and they cover a very small area on the site.
The land beneath the solar farm will have been rested from intensive farming and the associated pesticides and fertilisers, and so should be fertile and ready for crop production again.
