- We secured planning permission for the Home Farm 49.99MW solar + storage project near Strensham on 16 June 2025;
- THE SOLAR FARM will have an export capacity of 49.99MW, with co-located battery storage to maximise grid flexibility and renewable energy dispatch;
- The scheme is expected to result in significant CO₂ savings, helping reduce reliance on fossil fuel generation and contributing to the UK’s net zero targets;
- The project will generate enough clean electricity to power approximately 14,000 homes annually;
- The development represents a major private infrastructure investment and will stimulate the local economy, particularly during construction;
- Construction is expected to take approximately 8 months, during which a peak workforce of 20–30 staff and contractors will be employed, including HGV and plant operatives, engineers, and site managers;;
- The scheme will create temporary jobs during construction, and ongoing local contractor opportunities during the operational phase;
- The project will contribute to local business rates, delivering further economic value to the area;
- A £50,000 community benefit fund will be made available to support local organisations;
- The project has been carefully designed to preserve local landscape character, including gapping-up and strengthening existing hedgerows, new native tree planting, and wildlife corridors;
- The development will secure a Biodiversity Net Gain through creation of species-rich grassland and enhancements to ecological connectivity;
- All infrastructure will be fully decommissioned after 40 years, with the land returned to agricultural use.
The site comprises two parcels of land totalling 165 acres, the main proposed solar farm parcel and a smaller parcel for an electricity substation, connected by a corridor of land to provide a cable route to connect the two. The site lies in both Tewkesbury Borough Council and Wychavon District Council authority areas. It also includes a cable route from the proposed electricity substation to the National Grid Energy Distribution Substation known as Strensham Substation on Bourne Road to the north.
The site has been chosen for a number of reasons including:
The site has been chosen for a number of reasons including:
- This site has a technically and commercially viable grid connection;
- The site is entirely located in Flood Zone 1 (i.e. lowest probability of flooding);
- The site has good access to the main highway network.;
- The site benefits from landform and woodland screening that minimises its visibility from its surroundings.
